  • Britons Spending More on Fuel

Winns Back Bike2Work Scheme

A recent poll by Sainsbury’s Bank Car Insurance has found that British motorists are spending an average of £14.64 more each month on fuel than they did a year ago.

73% of those surveyed explained that they’d reviewed their fuel efficiency in an attempt to save money with 39% driving less and 29% driving more slowly. Sainsbury’s Bank also found that 42% of drivers shop around for the best prices on petrol & diesel, with supermarkets continuing to provide the most competitive prices.

Many companies have introduced Bike to Work schemes in an attempt to reduce local road congestion and promote cycling as a more affordable method of commuting along with car-sharing and public transport.

Winn Solicitors are proud to have set up such a scheme and invite employees to take advantage of the discounts and benefits that come along with it. By teaming up with The Cycle Centre in Byker, we’re able to provide Winns employees with a bicycle, which can be paid for in easy, interest-free instalments each month.

Of course, for some motorists cycling is not a practical option. In which case, Emily Fleming of Sainsbury's Car Insurance advises: "Taking small steps, such as making sure you're not carrying around unnecessary items in your car or making sure your tyres are properly inflated, can help to make your fuel go further."
