Looking Back on a Successful Year
Over the last financial year, Winn Solicitors has achieved great success. From outstanding fundraising efforts, to winning significant awards, this article looks back on some of our achievements over the last 12 months.
We’re proud to support the Sunshine Fund, a local charity which raises money to help disabled children and their families across the North East. Over the past year, we’ve taken part in a whole host of events, including the Great North Run, Wear Yellow Day and the Sunshine Run. In total, we raised an impressive £4,470 for the charity, which allowed them to buy a specially built trike for Jamie Johnson Smith, a 16-year-old with down’s syndrome and a thyroid problem. The trike will play an important part in keeping his weight down, and will bring health benefits, as well as a great deal of enjoyment for Jamie.
Internally, we’ve also made several changes over the last 12 months, in order to further grow the company. We’re always keen to promote from within, and we’re delighted to have welcomed two more directors to the board – Jo Amos and Michael Warmington.
Jo Amos was appointed as an associate director in March 2015. She has been with Winns since it was established in 2002. Prior to taking on her new roles as both director and head of complex claims, Jo was deputy manager of the trials team.
Jo said: “Winn Solicitors is a highly regarded as a market leader nationwide. We have been instrumental in challenging the perception of the sector and at the forefront of pioneering a new approach when it comes to personal injury and road traffic accident claims.”
Jeff Winn, managing director at Winn Solicitors added: “Jo has been an extremely important and influential member of our team from the outset; this promotion recognises the significant contribution that she has made to the business and the key role that she will play in the future growth and development of the firm.”
Michael Warmington became an associate director in July 2015. Michael has been with the firm for eight years, and has been influential in the growth of the company, which now employs over 250 staff.
Michael said: “Winn Solicitors is highly regarded and is widely recognised as a market leader in the field of accident management services and we believe this is a great testament to the staff having been instrumental in driving the company forward and helping the company to achieve accreditations and awards to date.”
“I look forward to the opportunity and challenge involved in the continuing development of the group. In working with the directors, management and all staff, I hope to further the growth and success of the group.”
Jeff Winn added: “We are delighted that Michael has joined the directorship. He has been instrumental in the successful growth of the company, and helping the firm to achieve and maintain such important accreditations as Lexcel and our Investors in People Gold Standard.”
Many other staff across the firm have made exceptional progress this year, including seven staff who have been awarded training contracts based on their outstanding performance in fee earning roles. Hannah Entwistle, Liam Davidson, Adam Robinson, Stephanie Bennett, Alex Hindson, Lee Kipling and Krista Watson are all now on the path to qualifying as solicitors.
Our continued success is reflected in the many awards that it has received over the last 12 months, including the Northern Law Awards Practice Management Award and ABP Repairers Choice Award. We have also received several significant accolades and accreditations which highlight our excellence as a law firm, as well as our commitment to the people who work for us. These accreditations include: Investors in People Gold, Legal 500 and Lexcel.
Finally, in order to further our commitment to providing outstanding service, we have created a dedicated fraud team, which handles all forms of motor insurance fraud challenges. The team, headed up by solicitor Laura Miller, highlights our commitment to tackling motor insurance fraud challenges.
It’s been a fantastic year for the firm; we continue to grow and evolve to meet new challenges and changes within the claims management industry. We look forward to 2016-17, with ongoing plans for expansion, the development of our staff, and the evolution of several of our departments. We remain committed to supporting the community, through a range of charitable, sporting and educational initiatives.
