What is a Will?

This is a legal document that encapsulates the desires and direct wishes of a person in relation to their estate, both in terms of finances and physical assets. Upon passing, the Executors of the estate will facilitate the distribution of assets to the designated Beneficiaries to ensure the wishes of the deceased are met.

Rebecca from Wills and Probate was the ultimate professional: polite, considerate and efficient when dealing with sensitive family issues.

Why would someone need a Will?

It is important to have a valid Will in place to ensure your wishes are met upon your passing. Have you considered what would happen if you didn’t have a Will? There would be a huge element of uncertainty as to whether the financial and physical elements of your estate would go to those you want them to, and there is a much greater risk of arguments and strained relationships between potential Beneficiaries as they vie for their share.

Particularly during a stressful time when grief acts as a powerful emotion, if confusion and uncertainty is evident then there can be problems which can be avoided by using a Will writing service.

Why use a Will writing service?

If you haven’t got a valid Will in place, and you are keen to secure your financial future for the benefit of your loved ones, using a Will writing service is a great way to do it.

Relying on the skill, experience, and resources of a company like Winns means you are working with dedicated professionals who know what questions to ask, what to include in a Will and make sure nothing is left to chance.

I had been putting off writing my Will for some time as I thought it would be time consuming and difficult. After losing my husband unexpectedly at just 50, I knew I needed to make my Will now. Rebecca made the process effortless; I wish I had done it ages ago. It’s very reasonably priced too! Thank you.

What happens when I choose Winns’ Will writing service?

When you first contact the team they will discuss the process with you and ask for relevant details about your individual circumstances. You will then be sent a questionnaire to complete, either by post or email, if that’s preferred. Alternatively, a home visit can be organised if that’s required.

A home visit will always be Covid compliant, taking into consideration the need to mitigate any chance of spreading the virus. The aim is to support elderly people who may not be able to get out of the house, or those who wish not to leave their home, and provide them with access to this important legal service.

The questionnaire will cover all relevant topics that need your input, with a range of issues clarified including matters such as who your Beneficiaries are and what you’d like them to receive.

Once this is returned, the team will then create a legally binding document – the Will – with a copy sent to you to be signed and witnessed. Once that’s been completed you will need to return your Will to us and we will securely store the original and will send a copy back out to you for your records, as is traditional in the Will writing industry.

I had an urgent problem. Rebecca Harbron Gray dealt with it within hours, much to my relief. It is so reassuring to know that someone is so willing to help, and so speedily, when requested. Excellent, professional, proactive service; greatly appreciated.

FAQs

How much does it cost to have a will made up?

The cost of creating a Will does depend on the complexity of the estate and the value of it. If it is a straightforward distribution then the cost is reflected as such. Contact the team at Winns today to find out more and discuss your options.

Can I write up my own Will?

The short answer to this is yes, you are able to create your own Will. But, for the peace of mind that comes with engaging in the services of experienced professionals, who know what to include and the legal rules and regulations around estate management, choosing a Will writing service like Winns is the right choice. That way, you don’t need to worry about intestacy rules, knowledge of inheritance tax and other complex information; your legal team can support you throughout.

As a Solicitors Regulation Authority regulated firm, we are held to high legal standards which provides greater protection to clients in the unlikely event something goes wrong with your Will; this protection isn’t available if you create a Will yourself.

The storing of a Will is also done securely by a registered legal firm; the same cannot be said of other Will producers who may not have such robust procedures.
