Labour plan cycling advisory board
Labour has made further promises to cyclists ahead of the general election in May.
The new proposals involve the creation of a new Cyclist and Pedestrians’ Advisory Board to help spearhead effective changes in British transport policy.
The advisory board would have influence straight away, being called on to publish a long-term walking and strategy report before summer 2016,
Labour's Shadow Transport Secretary, Michael Dugher, who was visiting Bristol West as part of the pre-election campaign trail, said that Labour would also provide an extra £89 million towards this national strategy.
"This will enable cities to catch up to London on making cycling and walking more accessible and safe," he said.
Mr. Dugher also promised that the money would be used to create more cycle tracks, highways and cycle hire schemes. A further £300 million would be used to repair 24 million potholes across the next five years.
