Cyclists and car drivers still at war

Cyclists and car drivers simply don’t trust each other very much, and still aren’t getting along well on the road.

Those are the slightly unsurprising findings from a survey conducted by electronic tag company Easytrip, who say that 56% of cyclists don’t feel that drivers pay them enough attention.

The study also showed that the feeling is very much mutual, with 69% of motorists labelling their two-wheeled compatriots as a “menace”, whilst cyclists claimed that they regularly see drivers fail to use their indicators, drive too close to the pavement and not leave enough room for cyclists when turning.

That being said, 95% of the motorists also said they had seen cyclists skipping red lights, cycling on the pavement or not wearing high-visibility clothing.

There is hope however, as more than half of the motorists said that they do in factunderstand the challenges faced regularly by cyclists.

Let’s hope it won’t be too long until they can all get along.
