Nearly Half of UK Adults Don’t Have Up to Date Will
Nearly half of UK adults don’t have an up to date Will in place, leaving them open to external factors dictating some of the most important matters in their lives.
The latest research from Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE) showed that 56% of UK adults have updated their Will within the last five years, meaning nearly half of Wills are outdated. It also showed that half of UK adults have experienced a life-changing event, such as getting married, divorced, or having a child, since last updating their Will which means their current Will may be invalid.
In addition, 70% of UK parents have no legal guardian in place to care for their children if they died. If this were to happen, the potential for their children’s care to be decided by the courts or social services is increased. Only two out of 10 parents surveyed knew that this could happen.
Winn Solicitors, as part of Update Your Will Week, is encouraging more people to update their Will.
Having the reassuring knowledge that your wishes are being carried out after you die is important – it helps minimise potential disputes among loved ones and means they don’t need to worry about the potential stress and confusion that comes with sorting out an estate.
The focus can be on grieving the loss of a loved one.
Provide those you care about with certainty and assurance for the future by creating or updating your Will with Winns.
