Winns Announces Support Plans for Road Safety Week
Winns is delighted to be supporting Road Safety Week from 18th until 24th November, the UK's biggest road safety event, coordinated annually by road safety charity Brake.
Brake’s aim for Road Safety Week is to inspire schools, organisations and communities to take action on road safety and to promote life-saving messages during the Week and beyond. With a different theme for the week every year, 2019 is named “Step up for Safe Streets” aiming to learn about, shout about and celebrate the amazing design-led solutions that will allow us all to get around in safe and healthy ways, every day.
Watch out for competitions as well as factual and motivating stories from our very own road safe staff on Winns social media throughout the week, to ensure that you, and those around you, become more informed about being healthier and safer on the roads.
With air pollution causing up to 36,000 deaths in the UK, Step up for Safe Streets provides the ideal opportunity for us to follow up on our Clean Air Day activities and play our part in reminding everyone that air pollution affects our health from our first breath to our last. During Road Safety Week we will share the simple steps we can all take every day to clean up the air we breathe and protect our health in an effort to reduce one of the largest environmental health risks of our times.”
Jo Amos, Winn Solicitors Associate Director and member of the Air Quality Public Consultation Committee
Our Road Safety Week competitions will be fun to enter with great prizes, and our staff stories entertaining, but the message we are passing on from Brake is a serious one. There are both safe journey and ultra-low emission technology solutions out there just waiting to be used. Join us in helping Brake to spread the word, because together we can make a difference.”
